Supportive Caregiver’s Group

York Region Abuse Program has spaces available in the Supportive Caregiver’s Group. This free 11-weeks group provides education and support to caregivers who have children between the ages of 3-12 who have disclosed sexual abuse. The group takes place between the hours of 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in York Region. 

The group will:

• Provide a support network of other caregivers who share similar feelings, concerns and experiences
• Help to increase awareness about sexual abuse related to different childhood developmental stages
• Educate about normative vs. concerning sexual behaviours in children
• Increase understanding about healthy sexuality and establishing boundaries
• Increase coping, problem solving and stress management skills
• Provide community resources and referrals
• Support the caregiver’s involvement with different systems (health care, legal, children welfare)
